While earth surrenders to water, water to fire, and fire to wind.
I surrender to clay.
Laura Villegas Sernaitis · ceramics and writing · Coatepec, Veracruz
What drew me to makeup and to ceramics was the same thing: life, time, and the relationship between who we are, how we live and where we are.
Ceramicist and writer. She works with clays gathered in the territories she travels through and fires them in a wood kiln she built at her studio in Coatepec, in direct dialogue with fire.

I write while the water falls, so the waters settle and find their course.
I write while it evaporates.
I share as a way of firing.
